Taormina, a city of Greek origin overlooking the Ionian Sea, offers a very suggestive landscape not to be missed.
The city maintains its Greek theatre, whose semicircular structure allows you to admire both the sea and Etna, landscape loved by the poet Goethe. The theatre is still used today for exhibitions and concerts in the summer.
Among the monuments to visit there is the Cathedral of San Nicolò di Bari, or Duomo, main place of worship of the city, located in the historic center of Taormina: remarkable the main gate and the large main rose window of Renaissance inspiration. Some sections have been added to the main floor plan over time and in the 20th century it was restored.
If you visit Taormina during the summer, you can not miss a visit to Isola Bella, the most beautiful beach in Taormina, a picturesque pebble bay bathed by a turquoise sea, lined here and there with boats of fishermen.
The eponymous islet, a rocky outcrop covered with dense vegetation, is connected to the mainland by a strip of sand that appears and disappears depending on the tides.
